Ramadan Buka Puasa / Iftar Buffet 2014 Review @ The Living Room, Westin Hotel, Kuala Lumpur- A Must Try!

If you are looking for a 5 Star Restaurant with great tasting Malay cuisine and the type  that like a great variety of food as an option when you buka puasa, just drop by the The Living Room Restaurant @ Westin Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

They have seriously outdone themselves by being consistently good in the fare presented this year. The Westin's Juadah Iftar fare features cuisines from 14 different states of Malaysia- showcasing traditional Malaysian dishes with live cooking stations.


Get ready for a myriad of explosions on your taste bud as you go through their buffet circuit.



They have brought in the best quality dates and "Zam Zam" Water to break the days fast at the sound of the prayers. 


The first section is where a variety of salads and modern and traditional appetisers are placed. You can indulge in your favourites that will be to bring back memories of you growing up, that is if you grew up in a kampung in the first place.

The next station is the Where the Lamb & Egg Briyani is. no doubt this is the King of the buffet and hence the most popular item. To accompany this is where the kawah section is that showcases some great tasting local favourites.  



At the huge Kawah Section, traditional disher were prepared and every dish was very good. The reviewers favourites were the udang & tempeh , asam pedas ikan pari and the sambal paru.  The Sambal Paru at the Westin must be the best in Kuala Lumpur. The meat is tender and the dish with its spicer are to die for. Other dishes in the kawah section was the  Daging Gulai , Gulai Ayam Kampung and kari kepala ikan.

Grilled Sections give you a wide variety of marinated chicken, meats and seafood. The King Prawns was no doubt a huge crowd favourite.




For those who prefer some western style cooking with less spices they grilled Burrumundi Fish and Beef Ribs which simply fell of the bone and melted in your mouth and Mexican tacos with fish, chicken or beef fillings.



Dato Shake's wife loved the duck, which was another crowd favourite.


The Indian Section has favorites like Tandoori Chicken, Fish Tika, Naan, Aloor Gobi, Lamb Rogan Josh










The Rojak Station was another crowd favourite and one of the best the reviewers had.


The Chinese Corner provided guest with options of having Noodles, Dim Sum, Butter Prawns with Oats, Chicken Kong Po, Fried Dory Fillet with Fried Rice,  Siew Mai Dumpling,  Prawn Dumpling, Chicken Char Siew Pau and Hainanese Chicken Rice





Another popular station was the cooked to order Pasta Station. You could request your pasta to be done anyway you imagine it.


Westin has won many awards for its deserts and its no surprise that this again that this station is a huge crowd favorite. They have a wide variety of malay traditional nyonya kueh's, western mouth watering deserts, cakes and cupcakes.cotton candy, ice cream and even popcorn.

All gave Westin a huge thumbs up for taste! 


The macho young looking Dato Shake remarked the fare presented was authentic Malay cuisine and very tasty. , if he had more space in his tummy he would eat much more. 






The reviewers summed up the review by confirming at least 90% of the fare presented was authentic and extremely tasty. The kawah section and the desert section is a must try and one can over indulge in this two sections alone.
