Proton Launches New Saga And Persona Executive Variants

KUALA LUMPUR, July 7 (Bernama) -- Proton Holdings Bhd today introduced the new executive variant of the Saga and Persona cars, which are enhanced cosmetically to appeal to the younger market.

On the road price range for the Saga Executive is between RM41,000 and RM44,374 for manual transmission while the automatic transmission ranged from RM42,450 to RM46,974.

For the manual transmission Persona Executive, the price ranged from RM47,250 to RM52,388 while the automatic transmission cost between RM50,050 and RM55,388.

"Six colours are available for the Saga Executive, namely, Tranquility Black, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Blue Rock, Solid White and Elegant Brown while the Persona Executive is available in seven colours, namely, Tranquility Black, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Solid White, new colour Elegant Brown, Bronze Garnet and Chiffon Green," Proton said in a statement here today.

The Saga Executive comes with a three-year or 60,000 km manufacturing warranty, whichever comes first, while the Persona Executive comes with a two-year or 50,000 km manufacturing warranty, whichever comes first.

Chief Executive Officer Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah said the national automotive manufacture was also offering three years free service to successful registrations.

The Proton Saga Executive and Persona Executive are now officially open for booking nationwide but display units in the showrooms in Sabah and Sarawak would only be available on July 17.

A quick perusal of Proton Edar’s website revealed a Proton Persona Executive, a new trim level that slots above the base Super Value (SV) model and brings back most of the features that were removed from the lineup when the previous higher-end variants were discontinued. A stay of execution for the ageing Gen.2-based sedan, perhaps?

The exterior sees the return of a bodykit, rear lip spoiler, door visors, body colour door handles and front fog lights. New kit additions include seven-spoke 15-inch alloy wheels in a “Kaizer Silver” finish and a chrome finish for the decorative wings on the grille and boot lid.

The interior, on the other hand, has been reinstated with leather upholstery, height adjustment for the driver’s seat and audio controls on the steering wheel. Door mirror adjustment appears to remain manual and the rear seat backs fixed, but strangely you do get a Yes 4G mobile hotspot.

Mechanically, the Executive is identical to the SV, so the 1.6 litre Campro IAFM four-cylinder engine that produces 110 hp at 6,500 rpm and 148 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, the choice of a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearbox, four-wheel disc brakes and four-wheel independent suspension (MacPherson struts at the front, multi-links at the back) remain unchanged.

Also unchanged is the safety equipment – dual front airbags, front seat belt pre-tensioners and ABS with EBD are retained.

The Proton Persona Executive, now open for booking nationwide, is priced at RM49,938 (metallic RM50,388) for the manual and RM52,938 (metallic RM53,388) for the auto. Included with the car is a a two-year, 50,000-km manufacturer’s warranty. A new Elegant Brown shade joins the existing colour palette that includes Tranquility Black, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Solid White, Bronze Garnet and Chiffon Green.

 

 

Proton Saga Executive enhanced – new trim, Bluetooth

Proton has officially announced an enhanced Proton Saga Executive, along with the Persona Executive we showed you earlier today. The Saga Executive sits between the base Saga SV and the range-topping Saga 1.6 SE variants.

The list of enhancements include “special edition monotone body kits” (the SE’s bodykit is in contrasting grey); satin black trim for the centre panel, air-con vents and inner door handle; as well as “metallic warm grey” garnish for the front fog lamps. Also included are “smokey-coloured” rear lights and leather seats. The audio player now has Bluetooth functions.

The new Saga Exec and Persona Exec are now open for booking nationwide, although display units for Sabah and Sarawak will only be available from July 17. Six colours are available, and they are Tranquility Black, Fire Red, Genetic Silver, Blue Rock, Solid White and Elegant Brown.

Priced at RM41,924 for the manual and RM44,524 for the CVT, the 1.3 litre, 94 hp/120 Nm Saga Executive comes with a three-year or 60,000 km warranty. Proton is also throwing in three years of free service.
