Father, daughter killed in crash after buying her
birthday cake
KOTA TINGGI: A father and his nine-year old daughter were killed in a road accident after buying a cake for her birthday yesterday.
Mohamad Anwar Razali, 32, with his only child Nurul Elyanatasha, 9, from Felda Tenggaroh 5, Mersing were on a motorcycle when he lost control and they fell and were hit by oncoming two cars at KM76 of Jalan Johor Baru-Mersing at 1.45pm.
Kota Tinggi police chief Supt Rahmat Othman said the girl died on the spot while his father died while receiving emergency treatment at Kota Tinggi Hospital yesterday.
He said the drivers of the two cars were unhurt.
Mohamad Anwar's brother Fadzil Razali, 26, said they were travelling on separate motorcycles to buy the cake for his niece's birthday party to be held today.
"We stopped at a supermarket and bought the cake while Nurul was holding before continuing our journey to Kota Tinggi.
"When we reached a road bend, my brother lost control and they were flung to the middle of the road and hit by the cars.
"Today, instead of celebrating her birthday, we gathered for a tahlil prayer for them," he said. -- BERNAMA
