PETALING JAYA: Police arrested 11 foreigners, including two who were here on student visas, for allegedly working illegally as guest relation officers at an entertainment outlet here in Sunway Mentari.
On the Wednesday, 11.45pm raid codenamed Ops Noda, 1 Iranian, 1 Filipino, 4 Vietnamese and 5 Thai nationals aged between 22 and 40 were arrested.
Nine of the foreign women were here on tourist visas while two others were holding student visas.
A local man, believed to be the pimp, was also arrested to facilitate investigations.
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi said the foreign women would be investigated under Section 39(b) of the Immigration Rules 1963 for violation of their permit or pass.
The offence carries a jail term of up to six months or a maximum fine of RM1,000 or both, upon conviction.
He added that the premise owners and caretakers face a charge under Section 56(1)(d) of the Immigration Act 1959/1963 for employing foreigners without a valid permit.
If convicted, each illegal person can be fined up to RM50,000. For more than five persons, the penalty carries a jail term of up to five years and six strokes of the rotan.
