American Airlines flight diverted to Rome following bomb threat

ROME: An American Airlines flight en route from New York to Delhi had to be diverted to Rome following a bomb threat on Sunday evening, Italian news agency ANSA reported on Sunday.
Flight 292 turned back towards Rome's Fiumicino airport while in Caspian Sea airspace, accompanied by two Italian Air Force Eurofighter aircraft to ensure a safe landing, according to the report.
However, the bomb threat sent via email was later confirmed as unfounded by American Airlines. The Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which was carrying 199 passengers and 15 crew members, is expected to resume its journey to its original destination on Monday.
