Police confirmed a viral video of a fight involving a local man and a foreigner man using a stick happened at Kilometer 139.6 of the North-South Highway heading north, near Pagoh on Saturday.
Muar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said that a police report on the incident that happened at 1.58pm was made at the Pagoh Police Station.
According to him, based on the initial investigation, the cause of the incident occurred as a result of the suspect's dissatisfaction with being prevented from using the emergency lane.
"The incident is believed to have occurred when a local driver on his way to Kuala Lumpur saw a red Mitsubishi Lancer vehicle driven by the suspect using the emergency lane and acted to stop the vehicle.
"As a result of that action, there was a verbal argument and the suspect also knocked on the windshield of a local man's car with a stick before leaving the scene of the incident," he said in a statement on Saturday night.
According to Raiz Mukhliz, the police are actively tracking the suspect to help the investigation.
"The case is being investigated in accordance with Section 427 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 53 (1) of the Road Traffic Act 1959.
"People are advised not to make any speculations that could affect harmony and disrupt public order," he said.
Before that, a 54-second video went viral involving a foreign man driving a Mitsubishi Lancer type car with a Toyota Innova driver believed to be a local.
The incident was seen to happen when the highway was congested and the Mitsubishi driver was seen trying to hit a man before getting out of the vehicle carrying a wooden stick and hitting the driver of the Toyota Innova.
However, other road users who were at the scene tried to break up the fight.
