KUALA LUMPUR: Rumors of a change of Melaka Chief Minister have finally been answered with the resignation of Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali as Chief Minister.
The matter was confirmed by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi while stating that he went to the Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam to present the name of the new Chief Minister candidate.
"I would like to confirm that I have received the resignation letter of the Chief Minister of Malacca.
"I will go to Tun Mohd Ali Rustam to present the name of a suitable candidate for the new Melaka Chief Minister.
"I hope that the TYT will be wise to accept the documents that will be presented and the swearing-in ceremony according to the date of the TYT," he said in a press conference at the Kampung Lebu Mosque, Bentong, Pahang, on Wednesday
Sources previously revealed that Melaka UMNO Liaison Board Chairman, Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh will be sworn in as the new Melaka Chief Minister this Friday.
He who is also the State Senior Exco for Investment, Industry, Cooperative Development and Entrepreneurs however asked all parties to wait for the official announcement regarding the rumors of a change of Melaka Chief Minister, this Friday.
"I cannot give any comment about this speculation," he said.
