KUALA LUMPUR: The police confirmed two statements that were spread through social media, that there will be a mass gathering in the nation's capital to overthrow the existing government, are not true.
Dang Wangi District Police Chief ACP Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the current security level is under control, and accordingly the public is advised not to spread or share more about the statement, through any social media platform.
"The public is also reminded to always be careful and not make any statements that may cause public annoyance. Such actions may result in legal action being taken against anyone involved.
"Strict action will be taken against any party that intends to cause public annoyance," he said," he said in a statement here.
Yesterday, two almost identical statements went viral on social media claiming that there would be a mass rally by Malays in the capital, with the aim of overthrowing the current government.
