KAJANG: Police arrested an elderly woman with disability status (OKU) on Friday, following a misunderstanding as she to try to hit a victim with a sickle in an incident at Jalan Bukit Segar 1, Cheras near here.
Kajang District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zaid Hassan said the report of the incident was received from a man on Thursday who claimed that there was a misunderstanding between him and the woman.
"The police investigation found that the cause of the incident was because the victim reprimanded the woman who was driving on a one -way street to disturb other road users in the area.
"The woman, who is also a senior citizen, came by showing the OKU card while lifting a cane tied with a sickle and tried to hit the victim," he said in a statement on Friday.
He said, however, the victim did not suffer any injuries.
He added that the 66 -year -old woman was later detained on Friday for further investigation.
“This case has been investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code.
"Independent witnesses who saw the incident were asked to come forward to testify to assist the investigation by contacting the investigating officer, Sergeant Ahmad Faizal Hasan at 019-7691 924 / 03-8911 4222," he said.
The incident which took place at a housing area near Taman Bukit Segar was caught on tape and went viral on social media. Here is a video of the incident.
In the video, a man can be heard saying, “You are at fault, yet you are threatening people with a weapon.”
The lady later on showed her disability documentation, to which the man said, “Being a person with disabilities does not give you the right to wield a weapon at people.”
