KUALA LUMPUR: Two armed robbers were arrested within hours after they allegedly robbed a dental clinic at Taman Melati here.
Wangsa Maju OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the incident occurred at around 6.30pm on Saturday (June 26).
"Three men entered the premises and pretended to seek dental assistance.
"After they gained entry, they brandished a parang and took several valuables from the victim (who was wearing personal protective equipment) before fleeing the scene," he said in a statement on Sunday (June 27).
He said the victim suffered losses of at least RM10, 000.
"The incident was recorded on closed circuit television at the premises.
"Based on the recordings, we managed to track down the suspects," he said, adding that they arrested two men aged 30 and 32.
He said the two were arrested about four hours after the incident within the Wangsa Maju area.
"We also seized the vehicle and the parang used.
"Both suspects have several prior records for drugs and other crimes," he said, adding that they have been remanded for six days.
Supt Ashari said police were now tracking down two other suspects still at large.
CCTV footage of the incident has been making its rounds on social media and WhatsApp.
One of the videos shows the men entering the premises before brandishing a parang.
One man is seen taking items from behind the counter as well as demanding for a victim's watch while another man can be seen grabbing a laptop from the counter.
They fled the scene when the victim activated the security alarm.
