KUALA LUMPUR-A total of 300 positive cases and seven deaths involving Covid-19 cases were reported in the Desa Rejang Public Housing area in a short period from June 1 until today.

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Superintendent Ashari Abu Samah said the public housing area involved has 12 blocks involving about 12,000 residents.

“So far, the total number of positive cases is 300 where blocks F and L recorded the highest number of Covid-19 positive cases and there have been seven deaths reported since June 1.

"The implementation of PKPD in this area will begin on Friday to July 1 and a total of 250 members from various agencies will be assigned to regulate the area," he said when met by Kosmo! at Rejang Village Public Housing here today.

Commenting further, his party will also assist the Ministry of Health (MOH) in carrying out screening tests on residents in the area, especially in Blocks F and L.

“We will conduct a comprehensive Covid-19 screening test in Blocks F and L, residents who are found positive will be sent to a quarantine center. We will also conduct screening tests in different blocks to ensure this area is safe from the Covid-19 outbreak.

"I hope the residents in this area adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOP) and cooperate with health officers in conducting screening tests," he explained.

He added that residents are also advised not to order any food or goods temporarily to be sent to the housing because it is in the Red Zone area.

“The Social Welfare Department will provide food aid and will be distributed on a scheduled basis. This matter has also been informed to the residents' association to be disseminated through the Whatsapp application.

"For the residents who got an appointment for the Covid-19 vaccine injection, the matter is being referred to the District Health Office whether the date will be postponed or the health staff will go to this location to give the injection. This matter will be decided in the near future, ”he explained.
