ALOR GAJAH: Police say a viral photo of authorities allegedly compounding a homeowner RM50,000 for hosting a large crowd on the first day of Hari Raya in Pengkalan here is fake.

Police say the photo going viral on social media was doctored.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said action could be taken against individuals for spreading fake news.
"We will investigate once a police report has been lodged," he said here on Thursday (May 13).
Supt Arshad said he had checked the matter with his men and discovered there was no compound issued as alleged in the post circulating on social media.
"This post used a doctored picture," he added.
