LAHAD DATU: Six people died in a crash involving three vehicles in Jalan Tungku near Kampung Membatu near here, this morning.
The crash occurred at 8.30 am involving a trailer lorry, Isuzu Dmax and Proton Saga.
Following the three-vehicle collision the trailer lorry skidded and plunged into a 18 metre deep ravine while the two other vehicles were reduced to a wreck.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Kamarulzaman Malik Abdullah said they received an emergency call at 8.51 am.
"The driver of the trailer, the married couple in the Isuzu Dmaz vehicle and the three individuals in the Proton Saga were seen pinned inside the mangled vehicles.
"Upon arriving at the scene of the crash, firefighters began to extricate the victims from their vehicles," he said.
Kamarulzaman said the victims were sent to Lahad Datu Hospital where they were pronounced dead.
