ALOR GAJAH, June 25 -- The Co-operative Commission of Malaysia (SKM) through the Co-operative Emergency Assistance Fund has provided RM1 million to 320 co-operatives nationwide affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur and Co-operative Development (MEDAC) Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin said the amount of assistance provided differed according to the co-operative, depending on the needs such as payment of wages and thus helping ease their burden.

"Hopefully it will help them to continue the business or operation (of the co-operatives). We have already completed distributing the assistance. Nineteen co-operatives in Melaka benefited from the fund involving a total of RM80,000 in aid.

"In addition, SKM also provided a Revolving Capital Fund to co-operatives requiring post-COVID-19 loans up to RM50,000 without collateral," she told reporters after visiting the Koperasi Bukit Bulat Felda Machap Melaka Berhad, here, today.

At the event, she also presented a check of RM10,000 to the Bukit Bulat Felda Machap Co-operative Melaka Berhad under the Co-operative Emergency Assistance Fund.
