PETALING JAYA: Two PKR Youth vice-chiefs have asked the movement to review its decision to sack of seven of its exco members.

The seven were on Wednesday (Jan 15) removed from the PKR Youth executive committee for not attending meetings.

The move has, however, drawn criticism, highlighting a growing rift in PKR Youth.

In a joint statement, Nazree Yunus and Jestin Raj Savarimuthu said the move was not in line with the agenda of strengthening the party.

"This highlights a weak Youth team that is forced to sack as many of its current leaders based merely on the excuse that they did not attend meetings, without evaluating their other activities," the statement read.

The seven sacked exco members are Nagarajan Kaniappan, Ahmad Khairul Mohamed Noor, Mohd Akmal Hisyam Ahmad Tamyiz, Mohd Firdaus Yusoff, Mohd Izad Buqhary Mohd Kamri, Nik Mohd Faris Syazwan Zainuzzaman and Wan Mohamad Fitri Wan Abdul Rahim.

They were removed from the PKR Youth exco in a decision conveyed via a letter dated Jan 15, signed by PKR Youth Secretary Ahmad Syukri Che Ab Razab.

Malaysiakini quoted PKR Youth chief Akmal Nasir as saying that the seven had not attended any meetings in 2019 and did not give any reason for their absence.

Akmal is widely seen as a key loyalist of PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, while the wing's No.2 Hilman Idham is viewed as a strong supporter of deputy president Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
