A man survived a fall from the fifth storey of a shopping mall when he landed on a car driven by a woman at Jalan Kuhara in Sabah's east coast Tawau.
TAWAU: A man is in a critical condition after he fell from the fifth floor of a shopping complex and landed on the roof of a vehicle with the driver inside during an incident at Jalan Kuhara here.
The man, who is in his 50s, suffered multiple fractures on his hands and legs. He apparently survived the fall due to the impact on the “softer” landing on the roof of the car, which was driven by a woman at 12.15pm yesterday.
She was unhurt, but was apparently in shock following the incident. She had stopped in front of the mall to pick up a passenger, eyewitnesses said.
Passersby immediately notified the police of the incident.
The man, who is believed to be of unsound mind, was sent to the Tawau Hospital for medical attention.
Tawau district police chief Asst Comm Peter Umbuas said that they were investigating the incident.
He said his officers would be recording statements from the victim, medical officers and eyewitnesses.
