IPOH: Three people died and four were seriously injured after a four-wheel drive vehicle and a car were involved in an accident on KM73 of the Gerik-Pengkalan Hulu road.

The deceased have been identified as car driver Mohd Azli Faizal Mansor, 33, and the front passenger of the pick-up Rozita Khayri, also 33.


Gerik OCPD Supt Ismail Che Isa said in the 12.10am Tuesday (Jan 28) accident, five other passengers in the four-wheel drive, including three children, sustained injuries.

“The car driver, who was alone, heading from Ipoh to Gerik lost control of his vehicle, and swerved to the opposite lane, before crashing into the four-wheel drive.



“The four-wheel vehicle was heading from Kelantan to Batu Kurau and had seven people in it.

“The car driver died on the spot, while the front passenger of the pick-up died at the emergency department of the Gerik hospital, ” he said.

Supt Ismail said the deceased in the pick-up was the sister of the driver, who sustained minor injuries.

“However, another of their sisters seated at the back of the pick-up truck together with her one-year-old daughter, and eight-year-old son, were seriously injured.

“Also injured in the pick-up was the driver’s one-year-old son. The other passenger escaped injuries, ” he added.

At around 10.30am Tuesday, the police announced that the 29-year-old sister of the driver, who was admitted to Gerik hospital had died, bringing the death toll to three.
