LANGKAWI: Two female children were quarantined at Langkawi Hospital on Sunday (Jan 26) after they were suspected to have contracted the Wuhan coronavirus.
State health committee chairman Datuk Dr Ismail Salleh said the children, who are siblings, were tourists from China. They have been in Langkawi since Friday (Jan 24).
"I've just received information from the state Health Department about the news.
"They were found to be feverish, we are still waiting for the test results," he said when contacted Sunday (Jan 26).
Ismail said for the time being, the siblings will be quarantined at the hospital.
It was learnt that the siblings, aged two and four, were travelling with their parents from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to Langkawi when they were screened and showed symptoms of contracting the virus.
Malaysia currently has four confirmed cases of the coronavirus, all of whom are Chinese nationals
