PETALING JAYA: Police have arrested one of the suspects allegedly involved in a house robbery at Damansara Jaya recently.

A video of the robbery had gone viral after dashcam footage was uploaded to social media.

Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din said they arrested the 37-year-old man after raiding a house at Jalan Rejang 13, Taman Setapak Jaya, at around 9.25pm Wednesday (Jan 29).

"The suspect from Negri Sembilan has a prior record for burglary and drug-related crimes and was also wanted in connection with a burglary case as well as under the Prevention of Crime Act (POCA).

"We also seized three branded handbags, a tablet device and two mobile phones during the arrest," he said when contacted Thursday (Jan 30).

He added that during interrogations, the suspect confessed to committing five break-ins in Sea Park and one in Damansara Jaya using a Mazda CX5 and a Honda HRV with three other accomplices who are still at large.

ACP Mohd Zani added that police were now on the hunt for the other three suspects.

"We will remand this suspect to assist us in further investigations," he said.

In the Jan 21 incident, a couple who had just returned home from shopping were shocked to find their gate open with a silver car parked in their driveway.

Two unidentified men then rushed into the Mazda CX5 to make their getaway.

The couple tried to block the intruders’ path with their car to prevent them from leaving but the thieves repeatedly rammed into their vehicle, forcing their way through to make their escape.

The incident was captured on a dashboard camera and the video subsequently went viral.
