SINGAPORE (Bernama): Flight operations at Singapore's Changi Airport were disrupted at 12.10am Thursday (Jan 23) due to an evacuation of the Changi Control Tower.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), the tower had to be evacuated as the fire suppression system was activated.
CAAS said flight operations were restored at 1.40am when Changi Control Tower resumed operations.
"In the interim, air traffic control services were provided from back-up positions, ” CAAS said on its Facebook page at 5am Thursday.
During this period, CAAS said 50 departure flights were delayed by 30 minutes or more and nine arriving flights were diverted.
"There was no fire. Investigations into the cause of the activation are ongoing, ” said the authority. - Bernama
