PETALING JAYA: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has postponed the nomination day for its branches and divisions, which was supposed to be held on Monday (Jan 13) to address complaints from party grassroots.

A source said this was decided on Sunday by the Bersatu supreme council and a circular dated Jan 12 was issued to all leaders and members to inform of the postponement to Jan 26.

The source said that Bersatu branches and divisions have now been directed to hold their annual general meetings between Feb 15 and April 18.

However, there will be no change in the Bersatu annual general meeting, which is scheduled to be held from June 26 to June 28.

"The circular stated that the nomination date of Jan 13 for branches and division polls have been postponed to Jan 26 between 9am and 2pm," said the source.

The circular, sighted by The Star, was signed by Bersatu secretary-general and Deputy Foreign Minister Datuk Marzuki Yahya.

The source further said that the supreme council convened after the period for complaints on the party polls ended on Jan 12.

Some branches and divisions, which had earlier set up stages for the nomination today, were forced to remove them after the circular was issued from the party headquarters.

Marzuki has confirmed the circular.
