PETALING JAYA: The police are investigating Umno supreme council member Datuk Lokman Noor Adam over allegations he made about the Bandar Baru Bangi fatal road rage incident.

Selangor CID chief Senior Asst Comm Fadzil Ahmat said that the Bukit Aman Special Investigation Unit (D5) was investigating the matter, adding that the investigation began on Tuesday (Aug 13).

"The investigation paper was opened yesterday under Section 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for threatening public peace and posting false content, " he said when contacted on Wednesday (Aug 14).

Lokman had urged the public through a seven minute video on YouTube to lodge police reports following the spread of images involving the deceased victim in the viral road rage incident along the North South Expressway.

He also connected Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Abdul Hamid Bador and the investigation officer on the case to the released images which were allegedly taken by the wife of the suspect during the incident.

It was reported that a fender-bender turned into a car chase and ultimately a fight that led to the death of a motorist on the PLUS highway near Bandar Baru Bangi.

Following the incident, the police remanded a couple involved in the road rage incident and classified the case as murder.

The police investigation revealed that a 29-year-old man initially knocked into a car driven by a 40-year-old just after the Sungai Besi toll plaza.

This led to a car chase and a scuffle between the two at the Bandar Baru Bangi interchange.

Witnesses at the scene broke up the fight and the two drivers returned to their vehicles.

However, the 29-year-old man then got out of his vehicle with a baseball bat and smashed the other car's bonnet. The older driver lurched his vehicle forward and hit the victim.

The younger man was pinned between the car and the road divider and was subsequently rushed to the Nilai Medical Centre, but died while receiving treatment.
