SEREMBAN: Preliminary police probe shows that the body of a Caucasian female found along a stream at Pantai Hills near here is that of missing Irish teenager Nora Anne Quoirin.
Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Mazlan Mansor said the police would still wait for her parents to identify the body before this could be made official.
"On our part, we are very certain it's her, " he told reporters at the Pantai police station Tuesday (Aug 13).
He said a group of trekkers found Nora Anne's naked body in a stream some 2.5km from the resort she was staying at 1.57pm.
He said her body had to be winched out using a helicopter as it was found deep in a ravine.
"We have sent the remains to the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital for post-mortem," he said.
Asked if there were any visible injuries on the body, Mazlan said this cannot be established as yet.
To another question, he said it was too early to tell how many days the deceased had died or the cause of death.
