SEREMBAN: The autopsy conducted on the remains of Nora Anne Quoirin is one of the longest carried out at the Tuanku Ja'afar Hospital (TJH) near here.

It is reliably learnt that the post-mortem on the remains of the 15-year-old Irish national, which started at 11.45am Wednesday (Aug 14), ended only at 9pm.

A source familiar with the procedure said it usually takes only a few hours for the procedure to be completed.

"Every aspect was thoroughly probed. Personally, I have never seen a post-mortem that has taken this long to be conducted in years, " she said.

Led by Kuala Lumpur Hospital forensic pathologist Dr Siew Sheue Feng, the four- member also includes TJH forensic pathologist Dr Hanif Mohammad, forensic dentist Dr Aidora Saedon and Sufian Arshad Ahmad from the Forensics Department.

The police had initially scheduled to hold a press conference on the findings of the postmortem at 5pm Wednesday but this was later deferred to 8pm.

However, as the media personnel gathered for the scheduled press conference at 8pm, state police deputy chief SAC Che Zakaria Othman emerged from the forensics

department and told them that the medical team was still in the midst of carrying out their work.

SAC Che Zakaria, who did not take any questions from the media then, said the press conference would be held Thursday (Aug 15).

State police chief Datuk Mohamad Mat Yusop is scheduled to speak to the media at 2pm Thursday.

The venue for the press conference has also been moved to the state police contingent from the Hospital Tuanku Ja'afar Forensics Department to accommodate an unusually large number of journalists, photographers and television crew.

The source said the four-member team was assisted by several other medical personnel.

"The four main members only took brief breaks to, among others, have their meals and perform their prayers, " she said.

A search-and-rescue team found Nora Anne's remains in a ravine at 1.57pm on Tuesday (Aug 13).

Her remains had to be winched up by helicopter and taken to the hospital for the post-mortem.

Nora Anne's naked body was found in a stream some 2.5km from the resort she was staying in.

The teenager disappeared from the resort she was living with her family on Aug 4.

She had checked into the property with her parents Sebastian Marie Philipe and Meabh Jaseprine Quoirin and siblings Innes Julia and Maurice Arthure a day earlier.
