After killing girlfriend in jealous fit, man surrenders to police with her body in tow
PETALING JAYA: A 37-year-old man surrendered to police after killing his girlfriend this afternoon.
Driving to the Damansara police station, the man admitted to his crime, then told police that the body of his 35-year-old girlfriend was in his car.
Police found the body in one of the passenger seats and promptly arrested the man.
It is understood that the man had killed his girlfriend in a fit of jealousy, suspecting that she was seeing another man.
However, district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din would only say that police had not ruled out the possibility that the murder was a crime of passion.
Zani said the man was believed to have killed his girlfriend about 1.30pm.
“During preliminary interrogation, the man said he murdered the victim inside the Honda City in a hypermarket in Kota Damansara. He then surrendered himself at the Damansara police station at 4pm. Our inspection found the body in one of the passenger seats.
“Examination of the body revealed a stab wound in her neck. Police believed she was stabbed with a ‘sharp object’ that we found in the car,” he told reporters at the Damansara police station.
Both the man and the victim were working for the management of a condominium in Kota Damansara.
Zani said the body of the victim would be sent to University Malaya Medical Centre for a post-mortem examination, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
Police will apply for a remand order against the man tomorrow. © New Straits Times Press (M) Bhd
