PUTRAJAYA: The Immigration Department has appointed three companies to assist in the Rehiring Programme for E-Card holders until June 30, says director-general Datuk Seri Mustafar Ali.

He said the companies are International Marketing and Net Resources Sdn Bhd (IMAN) which would manage illegal immigrants from Indonesia, Syarikat Bukti Megah Sdn Bhd (Myanmar) and Konsortium PMF (for illegal immigrants from other countries).

He said the E-Card programme was implemented from Feb 15 to June 30 last year to enable illegal immigrants and their employers to obtain travel documents or passports at the respective embassies for rehiring purposes.

“The E-Cards are valid until today…the (applications of) illegal immigrants with E-cards for the Rehiring Programme can be processed from Feb 15 onwards until June 30,” he said in a statement here today.

According to Mustafar, the department’s enforcement division would always conduct operations and inspections on the E-Card holders to ensure they possessed valid passports for the rehiring process.

He said if the E-Card holders failed to submit their passports after today, action will be taken under the existing laws.

“E-Card holders who are not eligible for the Rehiring Programme will be processed for repatriation to their respective countries straight away under the 3+1 programme through vendors which had conducted registration for the illegal immigrants,” he said. - Bernama © New Straits Times
