BUKIT MERTAJAM: The remand for the brother and sister who allegedly caused the death of their  26-year-old Indonesian maid has been extended by one week.

The 39-year-old man and his 36-year-old sister were brought to the courthouse wearing police lockup garb on Wednesday (Feb 14) morning.

The man arrived at about 9.40am in a police truck while the woman arrived shortly after in a police patrol car.

They were taken to the magistrate's court where a seven-day remand was obtained from court registrar Nor Hapipah Abdullah.

At about 10.40am, both were taken back to the police lockup in a van.

With the extension, the two will now be remanded until Feb 21.


They were arrested on Feb 10 and remanded on Feb 11 for four days to facilitate investigations into the case, which was classified under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On Tuesday (Feb 13), police obtained a remand for their 60-year-old mother in connection to the case. She will be remanded until Feb 19.

On Saturday, Adelina Lisao from Nusa Tenggara Timur in Indonesia sitting on the porch of her employer's house in Taman Kota Permai, with various injuries on her body.

Neighbours claimed the woman had been forced to sleep on the porch for over a month before she was found.

Adelina died in the hospital on Sunday.
