THE TEAM & THE MISSION SAVE ME – is collaboration of work between 2 countries ---Malaysia – Iran Directed by: Mohsen Navabi ( Iran) , Producer : Azadeh Akbarian (Iran) , Line Producer: Julez Wong ( Malaysia) Although C8 Media is a Malaysian Company, Julez Wong is actually an Indonesian based in Malaysia.

Director of SAVE ME Mohsen Navabi

Through the  Malaysian - Iranian venture SAVE ME was wrapped in 2016, after 2 months of planning, strategizing and pre-production preparation, 5 days of filming with 15 talented crews.

SAVE ME was made with combination VFX technology with the great special sound effect to imitate close to actual nature. SAVE ME tells the story of a parallel universe - BEARS - HUMANS. Regardless if we were a human or an animal, a mother’s love is unconditional.

For years Bears have been killed in Asia and Europe, not only for their meat, but also for their body part. In many regions their body part has been known to be used for aphrodisiac effect and medicinal purposes. These animals are subjected to intense pain for many years as they are exploited for their bile, which is a prized ingredient in traditional Chinese medicine. The demand for bear bile has also led to the hunting of wild bears and illegal international trade.

SAVE me is not just about the Bear, it’s about conservation of any endangered animals whose voices can’t be heard, who can’t stand up for themselves.  Every being or animal has a role to play in the eco-system. Bears, just like Sharks were never meant to be consumed by humans.

Above all that, SAVE ME is not just a short movie; SAVE ME is a message of HOPE and LOVE. It carries both value of overcoming obstacles and creating awareness on Conservation of Wildlife.

SAVE ME has won 6 awards so far, It has been shortlisted  and is the finalist for 26  other official film festivals worldwide

Julez Wong says there is a better chance for a Malaysian Movie to win an Oscar in the short movie category. Malaysia is already recognized for their animation work.

She said she hope that the Government agencies such as the Ministry of Environment will use short movies to highlight the need for conservation of wildlife, the eco- system and our forest. The Ministry has openly said they do not have enough personnel to guard Malaysia Wildlife and Forest. With awareness the people can be the eyes and ears of the Government. The legal framework is there however there must be more prosecutions.

The Producers invited PEKA Malaysia to speak at the event and they were impressively represented by their President,  Environmental  Activist Puan Sri Shariffa Sabrina Syed Akil . She stunned the audience when she presented some facts and data.

Malaysia has the oldest Rainforest even older than the more well known Amazon jungle.

Malaysia has the highest deforestation rate in the world thanks to the logging activities, illegal and legal. Malaysia produces 85% of the global supply of palm oil, one of the chief cause of logging

  • Malaysia ranks as the 21st most biodiverse country in the world, with 2,199 endemic species.[7] 18% of these species are listed as 'threatened', and because they are endemic, if Malaysia fails to conserve them, extinction will result.
  • Indigenous peoples in Malaysia have always depended on the rainforest for medicine, shelter, food, and other necessities.[8] They are not known to take more than what they need as this would be seen as a transgression of the forest and would bring curses to their people. The destruction of their prime resource is resulting in the destruction of their traditional ways of life. As the forest disappears, so does their culture.
  • Runoff has also increased. Though it would not be immediately suspected that logging deep in the jungle could affect a distant city on the coast, because there is less forested area to soak up rainwater and act as a slow-release reservoir, sudden floods are becoming more and more frequent.[9]
  • An increased rate of mudslides have been reported.
  • The recent mysterious death ot a Tapir on the highway was also highlighted

She highlighted that more must be done to stop the immediate destruction of our forest.

In every healthy forest there will be a bear.....as she aptly connected her presentation with the movie Save Me.

Julez wished more companies would allocate funds to conservation of wildlife and eco-system activities. Most who are activist today, are spending their own funds to create awareness. SAVE ME was totally self funded by the producers because of the passion for film making and conservation of wildlife.

Companies who particiate in campaigns for wildlife and environmental conservation now will be more likely to be remembered in the future as  Carbon emission and other environmental issues become a hot topic for the future.

The Producers Of SAVE ME  aims to raise USD 1,000,000.00 –  to create a campaign program for the conservation of bears. Interested companies can include their company name and log in the SAVE ME movie . C8media will be the authorized representative to sell the rights of ownership of SAVE ME. They intend to do other short movies similar to this highlighting other endangered animals such as the Orang Utan

A movie like  SAVE ME would be the role model of combination of sublime advertising and awareness that will benefit both advertiser and creating awareness. Short films are  the best tool of communication, as the message is artistically presented and straight to the point.

Julez hopes that Government and Major Corporations will step up and do more to raised awareness on the need for conservation of our eco system before mother nature wakes up and reminds us all with more floods,  hurricanes and landslides.

Some of the distinguished guest who attended the event included HRH Prince Norodom Naravong of Cambodia , YM Puteri Razita  Dato Ruby Khong, Wan Ahmad, Halim Henry Berbar and Miss Janet Foo.
