DJ Dave Spends Birthday, Valentine's Day With Less Fortunate Children
KOTA KINABALU: Most people will choose to spend Valentine’s Day with their partners, save for some, including seasoned celebrity Datuk DJ Dave, who has opted to celebrate the day with less fortunate individuals.
In celebration of Valentine’s Day and also his 69th birthday, the singer treated 50 orphans from four homes across the state with a cruise near the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park here.
The group left the Sutera Harbour Resort’s jetty and boarded the yacht at around 2pm, where the children were treated with a buffet and performances during the two-hour programme.
The celebrity also entertained the children, singing five songs including his popular tune ‘Ingin Bersua’.
“This is the 46th time I celebrate my birthday through charity but it has just been in different places with different activities every year.
“I will try to continue doing this because I want to give back to the society,” he told reporters who attended the event.
DJ Dave, whose real name is Datuk Irwan Shah Abdullah, is also Yayasan Artis 1Malaysia chairman.
