SEGAMAT: For ridiculing three transvestites, a housewife was attacked by the trio and ended up with a broken left hand. The three had allegedly assaulted her at a housing estate in Chaah here yesterday.
The suspects, aged 20, 24 and 31, went into a rage after hearing the 44-year-old woman belittling them for not knowing how to do housework and cook.
Segamat District deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Yusuf Unis said the victim also suffered injuries on the head and body after the three suspects hit her with sandals and a wooden chair in the 5pm incident.
Yusuf said the victim was talking with neighbours when her conversation turned to the three transvestites and she was heard stating that they were terrible at housework and cooking. The trio overheard the conversation and were enraged.
“They started attacking her with slippers and a wooden chair,” he said.
Yusof added that the trio do not have permanent jobs and were not drug users but the 31-year-old has a record for violence.
“The trio have been remanded for four days until Sunday (Jan 14) to facilitate investigations under Section 325 of the Penal Code for causing hurt,” he said.
A neighbour sent the victim to a private clinic nearby before she was referred to the Segamat Hospital.
The three suspects were arrested in the district an hour after the incident.
