Three arrested for intimidating journalists, cops looking for more suspects

PETALING JAYA: Three anti-Bersih supporters have been arrested for assaulting three journalists covering the Bersih 5.0 convoy in Kuala Selangor on Saturday.
"The police have identified the perpetrators and have arrested three men who are suspected to have been involved in the incident," said Kuala Selangor OCPD Supt Ruslan Abdullah in a statement on Sunday.
Supt Ruslan said that police have opened investigations under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
"Further investigations to identify and act against other suspects are currently in progress," he said.
Supt Ruslan added that the police have also received a report of people believed to have been participants of the Bersih 5.0 convoy distributing seditious flyers at the entrance of the Giant Hypermarket in Kuala Selangor, on Saturday.
"We have opened an investigation under Section 4(1)(c) Sedition Act 1948 for distributing flyers that are seditious.
"Investigations are also currently in progress," he said.
Journalists from The Star were assaulted by an anti-Bersih group on Saturday while they were covering Bersih 5.0's convoy in Kuala Selangor.The Star's journalists lodged a report at the Kuala Selangor police headquarters along with several members from Bersih 5.0.
