SEPANG: An Indonesia AirAsia flight en route to Surabaya had to turn back to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2) this morning due to technical issues.

Flight QZ321 had departed at 9.35am. However, 30 minutes after takeoff, the captain detected a technical problem before turning the aircraft back.

A passenger Rosdan Ramli, 40, said the plane was in the Straits of Malacca airspace minutes when the captain announced that the aircraft had to make a turn-back due to technical problems.

“The plane landed at klia2 at 10.30am. All passengers are safe.

“After landing, we saw the AirAsia ground crew inspecting the front tyres,” he said.

Rosdan said he was on a vacation with his family. He and his family are currently in klia2 waiting for the flight to depart.

AirAsia provided lunch vouchers to the QZ321 passengers while waiting for the issue to be resolved.
