Immigration officer held over toddler's murder

SEPANG: Police have detained an Immigration officer and her male companion in connection with the death of a toddler at Apartment Teratai in Putra Perdana here on Friday.
The suspects were picked up on Saturday to facilitate investigations into the murder of 19-month-old Hannah Sufiyah Muhammad Adib.
Initial investigations showed that the toddler - the youngest of three siblings - was believed to have been hurled to the floor.
Hannah Sufiyah was initially sent to An-Nisa Clinic in Putra Perdana at noon after she became unconscious as a result of the incident. Two hours later, she was pronounced dead.
A post-mortem at the Serdang Hospital revealed the death was due to blunt force trauma.
According to police investigations, the victim was crying as she wanted to follow her mother to work but the male suspect flew into a rage and slammed the toddler to the floor.
Sepang police chief Asst Comm Abdul Aziz Ali confirmed the incident. - Bernama
