KUALA LUMPUR: Two staff of a gold distributor lost RM1.6mil to robbers while transporting the money on a motorcycle on Tuesday.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Sharul Othman Mansor said the robbers had used the car to ram into the motorcycle of the two staff from behind, causing both to fall off.
"The runner, 32, tried to escape but fell and was surrounded by the robbers. They pointed a pistol and a rambo knife at him before taking the cash, which was the company's weekend takings," he said.
The robbers fled on several motorcycles, after abandoning their car, a Proton Wira with number plate WDY 6008, at the scene.
ACP Sharul said the runner has been working at the company’s factory floor since three months ago. The guard has been with the company for about six months.
Both men suffered injuries after falling off their motorcycle.
"The company sends cash every morning to a bank in Taman Desa and the amount is usually between RM500,000 and RM1mil per day," ACP Sharul said.
"We are looking at CCTV footage and preparing photofits based on the victims' description," he said.
