PETALING JAYA: A bomb hoax interrupted classes at a private university here, with 2000 students having to be evacuated from the premises.
According to Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zani Che Din, students were instructed to evacuate the university after a staff member received a call from an unidentified man at 10.10am Friday, claiming that he had seen an international student plant a bomb in one of the toilets.
"The caller did not specify which toilet the bomb was allegedly planted at, so we carried out a comprehensive search around the buildings.
"We did not find any suspicious objects in the premises. Following clearance from the Selangor police bomb squad, the university was re-opened to students and staff members.
ACP Zani said police are in the midst of identifying the caller.
The university was re-opened at around 2.10pm.
