Selangor CPO: Anti-Selangor govt demo in Ampang illegal


     

    PETALING JAYA: Police will act against the organiser, Sungai Besar Umno division chief Datuk Jamal Yunos, if he continues with a rally to protest against the Selangor government this Sunday.

    Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat said no permit was issued for the rally to be held at a shopping mall in Ampang.

    “Yes, the rally is illegal.  If the organisers decide to go ahead with the demonstration, we will take action in accordance with the law,”  Abdul Samah told The Star.

    He said police personnel will be on duty at the mall on Sunday to maintain public order and prevent untoward incidents.T

    “Similar to the Bersih 4 rally, police officers will be deployed to monitor the situation at the mall. Where there is a planned rally, we will be there. It is our duty as police officers,” he added.

    It was reported that the organisers had informed the police and the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) about the planned demonstration.

    MPAJ has rejected the organisers' request to hold the rally at Spectrum Ampang.
