Police have declared an international conference themed "Love and Sex with Robots" next month as illegal.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar said the organiser of the event has been warned not to proceed with the event, which has been deemed against Malaysian culture.
The event was scheduled to be held on November 16 to 19.
"Don't try to be ridiculous. There is nothing scientific about having sex with machines," said Khalid today.
He added that police will take action against the organiser if it went ahead with the event.
Last Monday, the organiser had updated its website at loveandsexwithrobots.org that the event was supposed to be held next month in Iskandar, Johor.
However, no local or international contact number was listed.
The Star Online reported that a click on a link on the website took visitors to another webpage named Advances in Computer Entertainment Conference on which the location of the event and the Tourism Ministry logo are posted.
Meanwhile, co-chair of the event City University London Prof Andrian David had told The Star that the workshop was not intended to promote any form of sexual relationship between humans and machines.
According to David, it was only an academic discussion among members of the academia.
He was also quoted as saying that it was just a topic for one of four workshops that were scheduled to be held during the Advances in Computer Entertainment Conference (ACE 2015). – October 13, 2015.
