KUALA LUMPUR: The auxiliary policeman who tweeted a racial slur in response over the Low Yat Plaza brawl will be investigated by the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission.
The man, who works as a security guard at KL International Airport, had tweeted a response to student Harvinth Kesu, who wrote his opinion that the weekend incident had nothing to do with race.
“Stop equating the Low Yat incident to Malays vs Chinese. Nothing to do with race. Just idiots & you’re an idiot if you can’t see it,” he said, to which the guard replied, “Alaa keling tak paya laa campur”.
(The guard used a derogatory term for Indians and told the student not to get involved).
“If it was a regular Joe saying it, I would have been fine, because a lot of people use that word. But the fact that he was a police officer and he was in uniform caught my attention.
“As a policeman, he shouldn’t say it or have those thoughts,” said Harvinth, 22, whose Facebook posting went viral.
A Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad spokesman said it did not condone its employee’s remark, adding that appropriate action would be taken against the guard after the Hari Raya break.
