SINGAPORE: A picture of a girl crying beside her dead dog, believed to have been cooked at a meat stall, has gone viral online.
Quoting People's Daily Online, a Chinese website, British news site Daily Mail said the five-year-old from northern Vietnam had been looking for the missing dog named "Flower" for a few days.
She had raised the dog for three years, and was heartbroken when it went missing suddenly. When she passed by a local dog meat stall, she immediately recognised the cooked dog lying on the street as hers.
"That's Flower," cried the girl while rushing over to the dog's cooked body, Daily Mail reported.
The photo has been picked up by news sites worldwide, and the Daily Mail story has been shared 16,000 times .
Daily Mail also reported that a documentary made by British Channel 4 revealed that seven tonnes of live dogs are shipped to Vietnam's capital Hanoi every day. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
