KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26, 2015:
Malaysia Airlines (MAS) reacted to the morning hacking of their website homepage, confirming that its Domain Name System (DNS) had been compromised.
In a statement, MAS said users were re-directed to a hacker website when the www.malaysiaairlines.com URL was keyed in.
The airlines, however stated that MAS web servers were intact.
The airline had since resolved the issue with its service provider and the system was expected to be fully recovered within 22 hours.
The matter had also been immediately reported to CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Ministry of Transport.
Malaysia Airlines assured customers and clients that its website was not hacked and this temporary glitch did not affect its bookings and that user data remained secured.
MAS which was still reeling from the loss of two planes, one of which had yet to be found, had become the subject of a sick joke by hackers this morning after the homepage of its website displayed a picture of a monitor lizard in a top hat with a rap song playing in the background.
