The villagers expressed shock over the size of the animal, which measured 5.5m long and weighed about 70kg, China Press reported.
According to villager Chen Yi Sheng, he went to check out the area after hearing excessive barking from two dogs at about 8pm on Friday.
“I was shocked to see the dogs fighting with a python, so I quickly called my friend for help,” said Chen, 50.
As the python wound itself around one of the dogs with the other one already injured, Chen and his friend used a piece of wood to hit the python.
They managed to kill the python but the dogs could not be saved.
