Victim’s brother to identify remains

A relative, who requested anonymity, confirmed with the New Sunday Timesthat four family members had left for Amsterdam, the Netherlands, on Friday to identify the remains of the 49-year-old Kazakhstan-based Shell employee.
The relative also confirmed that one of the family members who had gone to Amsterdam was Tambi’’s brother, Drahman Jiee.
It was learnt that two of the four family members were relatives of Tambi, while the other two were relatives of his wife, Ariza Ghazalee.
Ariza and her eldest son, Muhammad Afif Tambi, 19, were among the first batch of 20 remains to be flown back to the country on Aug 22.
More than 3,000 people were present when their remains were laid to rest at the Semariang Muslim Cemetery here on the same day.
Ariza and Tambi, together with Afif and his three siblings, were returning home to Malaysia for good when the aircraft was downed in eastern Ukraine on July 17.
Afif’s three other siblings were Muhammad Afzal, 17, Marsha Azmeena, 15, and Muhammad Afruz, 13.
The relative said there had been no news on whether the authorities had identified the remains of the three children.
