SUNGAI PETANI: A five-year-old boy who was reported missing for a month has been found dead.
The body of Mohd Fazlin Abdullah, believed to have been killed by his mother’s boyfriend, was found buried among some bushes at an oil palm estate here, some 40km away from his home.
His decomposed body was found in a deep hole by the police at about 2am in Bukit Selambau here yesterday.
He was reported missing by his mother, a widow in her 40s, in Sungai Karangan, Kulim, on Aug 11.
Kuala Muda OCPD Asst Comm Khalil Ariffin said authorities finally managed to find the body after nabbing a 42-year-old man, the mother’s boyfriend.
“We felt something was amiss during the course of our investigation, which led us to nab the mother’s boyfriend for interrogation,” he said yesterday.
“He then admitted to us that he had strangled the boy at his home after becoming annoyed by the boy’s non-stop crying.
“In a panic, he then took the boy’s body to the plantation to bury it.”
At the time of the incident, the mother was away from home.
ACP Khalil said that after burying the body, the boyfriend headed home and pretended as if nothing had happened.
Mohd Fazlin was the youngest of eight siblings.
His remains have been sent to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital for a post-mortem.
The man has been remanded until Sept 16 to help in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
