KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Ahmad Said has resigned as Terengganu menteri besar today, says Umno secretary- general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

In a statement released to the media, Tengku Adnan said  there was a meeting between Ahmad and Umno president  Datuk Seri Najib Razak on the matter.

 
The statement said Tengku Adnan was in Kuala Tereng ganu to meet Barisan Nasional assemblymen and confirmed  that Ahmad had resigned when met by reporters.
 
However Tengku Adnan did not reveal Ahmad’s successor  and said decision on the matter would only be made available  later in the evening.
 
Speculation has been rife that Ahmad would be replaced by   the state science, energy, green technology, water, tech nology and innovation committee chairman Seberang Takir  assemblyman Datuk Abdul Razif Abdul Rahman, 49.
 
It is also has been rumoured that the swearing-in cer emony to install a new menteri besar would take place at  about 8pm tonight, at the Istana Syarqiyyah at Bukit Cen dering in Kuala Terengganu.
