KOTA BARU: A father and his two sons are among the 13 suspects arrested for allegedly gang-raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl. Worse, all 13 are related to each other.
State CID chief Asst Comm Lai Yong Heng said the suspects were all from Kampung Hutan Pasir in Ketereh, where the incident allegedly took place at an abandoned house on May 20
“The suspects, aged between 20 and 40, all have blood ties with each other. Among them are a 38-year-old father and his two sons, who have been remanded for seven days,” he said.
ACP Lai also revealed that the 17-year-old girl, who was remanded on Tuesday and believed to be in cahoots with the group, had lodged a report claiming that she, too, had been raped by the suspects.
He said that from the investigations, it was found that more than 10 men were involved in the alleged rape but not as many as 30.
“However, some of them are believed to have violated the minor up to three times each,” he added.
The latest, said ACP Lai, was based on the account of the victim’s boyfriend.
“The girl’s boyfriend was forced to watch and keep count of the number of times the girl was allegedly raped,” ACP Lai said when contacted yesterday.
“We are investigating the case carefully and will ensure all those responsible will be brought to justice,” he said.
In the 7.30pm incident, the Form Three student was asked by her 17-year-old friend to pick her up in Ketereh, about 30km from the former’s home in Kuala Krai.
The victim, together with her boyfriend and the friend, then went to the old wooden house in Ketereh, where the suspects, said to be high on drugs, were believed to have taken turns to rape and sodomise her.
The victim, who apparently fainted after being subjected to continuous rape, woke up the next day with intense pain in her private parts, and went to rest at her boyfriend’s place.
She only returned to her home on May 25 where she complained to her mother about abdominal pain.
She was later sent to the Kuala Krai Hospital, after which her father lodged a police report.
