Hanez Suraya and boyfriend sue Malaysia Airlines over leaked Boarding Passes

Actress sues Malaysia Airlines over ‘leaked’ flight details

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) has gotten on the wrong side of an actress and her friend as they are suing the financially-troubled national carrier over allegedly posting her flight details on Facebook.
The Star Online reported today that Hanez Suraya Abdul Aziz, 28, and Romie Razin Adilha Abd Jais, 34, said that hours after they had landed in Bangkok on April 20, they were informed by friends that parts of their boarding passes were posted on a Facebook account known as "Kami Sokong Liyana Manan" (We Support Liyana Manan).
(Liyana is Romie's wife and they are in the midst of divorce proceedings.)
The Star Online quoted Hanez that they boarded the MAS flight at KL International Airport to Bangkok at about noon and had given their boarding passes to MAS staff at the departure gate.
They said they found the Facebook account had over 1000 negative comments mocking them.
Hanez and Romie told The Star Online that they found that the pictures of the boarding passes had been posted extensively in social networking websites, blogs and local newspapers causing them to suffer emotional stress.

Hanez said the suit was filed at the High Court registry today through her lawyer Wan Nurliyana Abdul Rahman.
She also told reporters that her privacy had been trespassed.
"This is a question of intrusion over my privacy and security of my details as a MAS passenger.
"It has caused uproar in the internet and the subject became talk of the town," she was quoted as saying.
The English daily said in the statement of claim, Hanez and Romie said MAS was bound by the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
They said that MAS through the Customer Privacy Statement had assured passengers that all personal data and details, including flights, were secure, adding that the actions of MAS or their workers in "exposing" the boarding pass was unethical and in violation of the Act.
The Star Online reported that the two are seeking general, exemplary and aggravated damages, interests and costs from MAS, named as the sole defendant in the suit. – May 22, 2014.
