MAN DIES AS HIS BMW I7 CRASHES AND BURNS, WOMAN FRIEND SERIOUSLY INJURED
A man died while his woman friend was seriously injured when the car they were riding in is believed to have skidded before catching fire in an incident on the Duta-Ulu Kelang (DUKE) Expressway on Thursday.
However, there is unverified information saying that the incident occurred due to a burst tyre, the matter was shared through the Instagram page of the famous celebrity chef, Chef Wan.
Operations Commander Senior Fire Officer II, Mohd Anuar Ali said the Kuala Lumpur Operations Center received a call about a car fire at 2.13am. "A total of five members together with a machine from Setapak Fire and Rescue Station were rushed to the scene of the incident.
"The fire involved a BMW 17 type car and it was found to be 100 percent burnt," he said in a statement on Thursday.
He said that the two victims believed to be the driver and passenger of the car were involved in the incident.
"An adult male victim was confirmed dead by the Malaysian Ministry of Health (KKM) at the scene of the incident. "However, the adult female victim who suffered serious injuries was sent to the hospital for further treatment," he said.
According to him, the cause of the fire has not yet been identified.
