Former PM Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi (Pak Lah), was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) last night

Former Prime Minister, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, was admitted to the National Heart Institute (IJN) last night, after reportedly experiencing the health problem 'small spontaneous pneumothorax'.

The health development of Tun Abdullah or more affectionately called Pak Lah was shared by his former press secretary, Izad Raya, via his social page after receiving information from his closest family.

"Currently, Tun Abdullah is in a stable condition and is still being treated at the Coronary Care Unit for monitoring.

"Thank God, he is in good condition, but needs sufficient rest.

"The family really appreciates the prayers and words of encouragement entrusted to Tun Abdullah but the IJN advises him not to accept visitors at this time," according to a statement confirmed by his family members.

Based on the search for 'small spontaneous pneumothorax', this problem results in the collection of air or gas in the cavity between the lungs and the chest wall due to a leak between the chest frame and the lungs (pleural space) or the lungs themselves. This will cause the lungs to become constricted.

Meanwhile, his son-in-law, Khairy Jamaluddin, also confirmed the matter which was shared on his social page.

Khairy confirmed that his father-in-law was in stable condition at the IJN Coronary Treatment Unit (CCU) for  monitoring.

Khairy said that his father-in-law needed adequate rest and was advised not to accept visitors at this time

Previously, Khairy also revealed about the dementia suffered by Pak Lah, where he began to show signs of cognitive impairment since 2009 after retiring from the position of Prime Minister.
