The Floor88 GROUP filed a police report against the owner of the Jari Hantu YouTube account for allegedly uploading a film titled Bas Terakhir Malam Raya illegally on the platform.
According to its director, Eric, the irresponsible act of illegally uploading the work while the film is still showing on Astro First is believed to be the work of an insider.
"We do not rule out the possibility that the act of piracy and uploading this film was done by people inside (the production group). This is because the material shown illegally on the YouTube channel does not have the Astro First logo.
"If he wants to take it from the Astro First broadcast, it cannot be done. Therefore, we do not rule out that this cursed act involves insiders," he said.
Eric said this after making a police report at the Brickfield District Police Headquarters (IPD) with members of the Floor 88 group and co-director of the movie Bas Terakhir Malam Raya, Irwan Rauf on Wednesday.
Commenting further, Eric, who is also a member of the Floor 88 group, said that his party had previously detected several parties who uploaded the film illegally on the Telegram and TikTok applications.
However, he said, after making a complaint to the authorities, the film directed by him on two social media channels was successfully taken down.
According to him, the act of illegally uploading the film was again successfully detected on May 4, which is Hari Wesak, on the YouTube channel by an irresponsible party using the name 'Jari Hantu'.
Realizing the illegal act, he said, a report to the authorities was made, but it took six days to be taken down from the platform.
As a result, he explained, the production side suffered a loss of almost RM2.6 million during the period it was shown illegally.
"This loss is based on a total of 168,000 views by surfers on the platform. If the number of views is multiplied by the subscription fee of RM15.90 on Astro First, we suffered a loss worth RM2.6 million," he said.
Eric said, his party really hopes that the authorities can carry out the investigation thoroughly, and then succeed in arresting the irresponsible party.
Last Bas Terakhir Malam Raya started airing on Astro First channel since April 21 and is still on air until now
