PUTRAJAYA, Dec 10 (Bernama) -- Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar respects Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's decision not to announce the appointment of deputy ministers under the portfolio.
Speaking to the media here, Mohd Na'im said the absence of the deputy minister did not hinder his efforts to lead and take care of matters related to the Islamic religion in the country.
"The power of appointment under the Prime Minister, I respect what the Prime Minister decides, I have mentioned before that this is a big responsibility and a big trust, so it will be bigger without the deputy minister.
"We will try our best and take (responsibility), I see that there is good in this religious portfolio that is moved by public servants. God willing, if we succeed in moving (this portfolio), it will be a clear signal of the ability of public servants," he said after officiating the 2022 Munaqasyah of the Corporate Propaganda Secretariat (SDK)
of the Malaysian Islamic Development Department (Jakim) here today.
Also present was Jakim Director General Datuk Hakimah Mohd Yusoff.
Yesterday, Anwar announced the appointment of 27 deputy ministers, after getting the approval of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin AlMustafa Billah Shah.
In the announcement, Anwar did not list the two deputy ministers in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) and the Ministry of National Unity.
Meanwhile, during his speech, Mohd Na'im hoped that the SDK would be able to produce high-impact corporate da'wah products and become the 'front line' that would raise the image and prestige of the country's da'wah work management.
